We would not have booked at this price had the listing accurately reflected the condition and available amenities. Positive: Property was close to London, had nice facilities (in theory) and was a nice size - you could see the owners cared about the property. However the managing agent clearly let the owners down as I’ll explain later. Negative: We stayed here over New Year (30 Dec – 1 Jan) and unfortunately the property did not meet the standard advertised — particularly given the significant cleaning fee charged. On arrival the kitchen was not properly cleaned. Surfaces were still grimy, there was visible dirt on the floor, and many of the dishes, glasses and utensils had to be re-washed before we could use them. We ran a full dishwasher cycle immediately and hand-washed pans and utensils ourselves. For a property charging a £120 cleaning fee, this was unacceptable. The downstairs toilet does not refill properly after flushing and requires manually opening the cistern lid to reset the mechanism. Upstairs there was a strong body odour smell coming from one of the bedrooms. The duvet cover did not fit the bed correctly and surfaces had not been wiped down properly. There were also cobwebs in corners and general signs that cleaning had been rushed. The property advertises a fireplace, however on arrival we were informed it has been disconnected. It also advertises a barbecue/Spanish plancha with complimentary gas, but we could not locate this anywhere on the property. There were loose and slippery patio tiles which present a safety concern. We raised these issues promptly with the maintenance company but did not receive a meaningful response or resolution during our stay. Overall, the house has potential, but the cleanliness, maintenance issues and misleading amenities significantly impacted our experience — especially for a New Year stay at this price point.

It was a beautiful house, beds are very comfortable, neighbours were friendly, easy access to local amenities. Well done 👏
